David Theaker is the Chief Actuary at the Bermuda Monetary Authority, where he has overall responsibility for both Life and Property & Casualty (P&C) actuarial matters, including development of an economic balance sheet approach and reviewing internal capital model applications.

Mr. Theaker joined in mid-2011 from the Financial Services Authority in the UK where he was part of the P&C Policy team and heavily involved in the development of the Pillar 1 aspects of Solvency II. He started out as a life actuary in the UK and also spent time working in Australia. Mr. Theaker switched to P&C insurance in 1994 with the Government Actuary’s Department, where he also spent time on secondment as a frontline supervisor. He subsequently spent seven years working for Allianz in the UK, followed by two years in consultancy before moving back to regulatory work. Mr.Theaker is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
