HAMILTON, BERMUDA – On Tuesday 8 March 2022, the Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) was made aware of a fraudulent e-mail targeted at Bermuda’s financial services entities which falsely gives that appearance of coming from accounting@bma.bm along with the subject line stating, “Reminder: Unpaid Invoice!”. This is not a legitimate email address for the BMA.
The fraudulent e-mail misappropriates the name of the Authority and attempts to trick recipients into providing information about any outstanding balances owed to the Authority.
